Regular Season Round 10: Gigantes - Trotamundos 93-84

The game between Top Four teams took place in Puerto Ordaz. Third ranked host Gigantes (9-7) defeated their biggest opponent Trotamundos (11-7) 93-84. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-84. Gigantes made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. American guard Ricky Tarrant (188-93, college: Memphis) scored 33 points (!!!) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Josh Powell (206-83, college: N.Carolina St.) responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Ricardo Powell (199-83, college: S.Carolina) scored 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Gigantes and four Trotamundos players scored in double figures. Trotamundos' coach Ruben Magnano rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gigantes maintains third position with 9-7 record having eight points less than leader Guaiqueries. Loser Trotamundos still keep top place with seven games lost. Gigantes will face Guaros (#3) in Barquisimeto in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Trotamundos will play on the road against the league's leader Guaiqueries in Porlamar and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
