Second Stage Round 5: Byblos - Sagesse 63-72

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Byblos (16-7) against fourth ranked Sagesse (7-16) on Friday night. Host Byblos were defeated by Sagesse in a tough game in Byblos 63-72. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Byblos won third quarter 22-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nigerian-American guard Michael Efevberha (193-84, college: CS Northridge) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds for the winners and the former international guard Mohammed Ibrahim (196-83) chipped in 8 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists. The former international Jasmon Youngblood (195-84, college: Kent St.) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds and French power forward Ali Traore (207-85, college: S.Idaho JC, agency: BeoBasket) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Sagesse maintains fourth place in LBL with 7-16 record. Byblos at the other side keep the second position with seven games lost. Sagesse will play against higher ranked Louaize (#3) in Zouk in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Byblos will play at home against the league's leader Homenetmen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
