There was no surprise when 5th ranked Tokyo Excel. (20-31) was crushed at home by first ranked Nishinomiya S. (37-15) 110-82 on Friday. Nishinomiya S. dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Excel.'s 44. They outrebounded Tokyo Excel. 43-32 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Nishinomiya S. looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Tokyo Excel.'s players. The best player for the winners was American guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: De Paul) who scored 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import forward Larry Owens (201-83, college: ORU, agency: Three Eye Sports) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. American center Ryan Stephan (208-94, college: Colorado Mesa) produced 14 points and 8 rebounds and guard Tatsuya Nishiyama (171-88) added 18 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Nishinomiya S. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 37-15 record. Tokyo Excel. lost third consecutive game.
