Regular Season Round 31: Caceres - Ourense 65-71

Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Caceres Basket (13-18) lost at home to seventh ranked Ourense (18-13) 71-65 on Friday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-13. But Caceres Basket won third quarter 24-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Ourense won last quarter 21-17. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Cristian Diaz (185-92) who led the winners and scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Center Francisco Guerra (214-92) accounted for 19 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Ourense's coach Gonzalo Garcia allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Montenegrin guard Nikola Rakocevic (191-91, agency: Dynamics Global Management) came up with 19 points and 4 assists and Croatian center Aleksandar Marcius (208-90, college: De Paul) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Caceres Basket in the defeat. Ourense moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Melilla and Coruna. Loser Caceres Basket keeps the eleventh position with 18 games lost. They share it with Castello and Araberri. Ourense will meet at home higher ranked Palencia Baloncesto (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Caceres Basket will play against Cocinas.com (#17) in Logrono and hope to secure a win.
