Regular Season Round 32: Caen - RAC Basket 86-78

NM1 top team - Caen (25-7) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifth ranked Rueil (18-14) 86-78. It looked good early as Rueil took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Caen had a 23-15 second period charge getting the lead and Rueil was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 78-86. Caen made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Caen had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of American-Cape Verdean swingman BJ Monteiro (196-90, college: Duquesne) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 7 rebounds and guard Thomas Cornely (190-91) who added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. American power forward Ron Anderson (205-89, college: S.Florida) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Jeremy Bichard (186-90) scored 15 points and 6 assists. Four Rueil players scored in double figures. Caen have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 25-7 record. Rueil lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with 14 games lost. Caen will play against Vitre (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Rueil will play against UB Chartres (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
