Regular Season Round 26: Pau-Lacq-Orthez - Le Portel 67-75

The most important game in the last round took place in Pau between third ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (18-8) and ninth ranked Le Portel (13-13) on Friday night. Pau-Lacq-Orthez was defeated by Le Portel in a tough game at home 67-75. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-10. But Pau-Lacq-Orthez won third quarter 19-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Le Portel looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American point guard Darrin Dorsey (188-87, college: Dakota Wesleyan, agency: Three Eye Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points and 9 assists. The other American import power forward Franklin Hassell (203-88, college: ODU) contributed with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Zimbabwean power forward Vitalis Chikoko (207-91) replied with 18 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard DJ Cooper (183-90, college: Ohio) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for Pau-Lacq-Orthez. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pau-Lacq-Orthez's coach Eric Bartecheky rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Le Portel moved-up to eighth place, which they share with ASVEL. Pau-Lacq-Orthez at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. They share it with Nanterre. Le Portel is looking forward to face ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (#8) at home in the next round. Pau-Lacq-Orthez will play against Olympique Antibes (#16) and is hoping to win this game.
