The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Lekdetec.nl (24-2) in Bemmel on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Grasshoppers (18-6) 73-67. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Lekdetec.nl. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Strangely Lekdetec.nl outrebounded Grasshoppers 43-20 including a 26-9 advantage in defensive rebounds. Power forward Ingrid Van-der-Plas (178-91) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Sharon Beld (186-88) chipped in 17 points during the contest. Four Grasshoppers players scored in double figures. Grasshoppers' coach Rick Driessen used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international forward Lisanne de-Jonge (180-95, college: St.Joseph's) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and international center Rowie Jongeling (187-93) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Grasshoppers have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 18-6 record having eight points less than leader Lekdetec.nl. Lekdetec.nl at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. Grasshoppers are looking forward to face Binnenland (#4) in Rotterdam in the next round. Lekdetec.nl will play on the road against Den Helder in Den Helder and is hoping to win this game.
