Regular Season Round 25: Kymis - Apollon Patras 76-70

Date: April 8, 2017
The game between closely ranked teams ended with 13th ranked Apollon Patras' (6-19) road loss to twelfth ranked Kymis (8-17) 70-76. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 28-21. But Apollon Patras won second period 17-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kymis made 17-of-20 charity shots (85.0 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Apollon Patras helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for American forward Daniel Orton (208-90, college: Kentucky) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 5 rebounds. Australian guard Jason Cadee (186-91) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. American point guard Anthony Hickey (180-92, college: Oklahoma St., agency: Alti Sport) answered with 23 points and 6 rebounds and American-Ukrainian guard Steven Burtt (189-84, college: Iona) added 17 points and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws) in the effort for Apollon Patras. Apollon Patras' coach Thanasis Skourtopoulos let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Kymis moved-up to eleventh place. Apollon Patras at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 19 games lost. Kymis' next round opponent will be league's leader Olympiacos in Athens and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Apollon Patras will play at home against Lavrio (#8) and hope to win that game.
