Regular Season Round 25: Costa Masnaga - San Salvatore 66-64

Tenth-ranked San Salvatore (8-17) made lots of trouble for sixth ranked Costa Masnaga (16-9) on Saturday. Costa Masnaga managed to secure only two-point victory 66-64. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 11 points after three quarters before their 30-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Costa Masnaga forced 31 San Salvatore turnovers and had a 21-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Power forward Giulia Rulli (185-91, agency: SPORTlab Agency) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Guard Valentina Baldelli (170-89) chipped in 24 points and 5 rebounds. The former international guard Cinzia Arioli (178-84, agency: LBM Management) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws) and Francesca Russo (178-96) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Costa Masnaga maintains sixth place in A2 with 16-9 record. Loser San Salvatore keeps the tenth position with 17 games lost. Costa Masnaga will face Carugate (#11) in Corugate in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. San Salvatore will play at home against Alghero and hope to win that game.
