Regular Season Round 27: BVM 2012 - Betanzos 81-86

Very important is a home loss of second ranked BVM 2012 (15-8) against ninth ranked Betanzos (12-12) on Saturday night. Host BVM 2012 was defeated by Betanzos in a tough game in Mieres 81-86. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of BVM 2012. BVM 2012 trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 28-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 81-86 at the end of the game. They outrebounded BVM 2012 45-32 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Senegalese power forward Abdou Thiam (204-98) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Guillermo Pereiro (191-89) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Betanzos' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Lucas Hausman (190-93, college: Bowdoin, agency: Duran International) who recorded 27 points and 7 rebounds and Brazilian center Dida Pereira (203-92, college: Sequoias CC) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Five Betanzos and four BVM 2012 players scored in double figures. Betanzos moved-up to eighth place in Group A-B, which they share with Rosalia. Loser BVM 2012 dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. Betanzos will face higher ranked Ponferrada CDP (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BVM 2012 will play against Estudiantes L. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
