Regular Season Round 53: Fukushima - Yamagata 77-76

A very close game took place in Fukushima between Fukushima and Yamagata. Second ranked Fukushima (27-24) got a very close home victory over 3rd placed Yamagata (25-26). Fukushima managed to escape with a 1-point win 77-76 in the game for the second place. American guard Cedric Bozeman (198-83, college: UCLA) stepped up and scored 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import center Nigel Spikes (208-89, college: Marshall) chipped in 5 points and 16 rebounds. Point guard Yuichi Ishikawa (173-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds and swingman Mitsutaka Izawa (194-93) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Four Yamagata players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Fukushima maintains second place with 27-24 record having eleven points less than leader Shimane SM. Loser Yamagata keeps the third position with 26 games lost. Fukushima will again meet at home Yamagata (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Yamagata will have a break next round.
