Regular Season Round 27: Venta de Banos - Univ.Burgos 79-94

Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Venta de Banos (2-21) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Univ.Burgos (8-16) 94-79 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Univ.Burgos. Venta de Banos was better in third quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Univ.Burgos forced 20 Venta de Banos turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Alvaro Lombera (202-84) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Daniel Manchon (191-98) chipped in 20 points, 7 assists and 5 steals. Four Univ.Burgos players scored in double figures. Univ.Burgos' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Estonian Robert Valge (192-97) who recorded 35 points (!!!) and South Sudanese forward Slay Chol (203-90, college: Trevecca Naz.) added 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Newly promoted Univ.Burgos maintains eleventh place in Group A-A with 8-16 record. Venta de Banos lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 21 games lost. Univ.Burgos will face higher ranked Valle de Egues (#8) in Olaz in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Venta de Banos will play on the road against the league's second-placed Cantbasket (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
