Regular Season Round 27: Real Madrid II - Rivas 88-60
Date: April 8, 2017
Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Rivas (6-21) was outplayed on the road by second ranked Real Madrid II (21-6) 88-60 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 28 points. Real Madrid II made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game, while Rivas only scored four points from the stripe. They outrebounded Rivas 49-33 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Javier Salson (199-82, college: Bloomfield, agency: Duran International) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Uruguayan-Greek forward Maximiliano Sole (198-88, agency: Duran International) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four Real Madrid II players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Angel Gomez (197-87) who recorded 17 points and 9 rebounds and guard Miguel Zamora (189-93) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Madrid II have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of Group B leader, which they share with Casvi. Newly promoted Rivas keeps the fourteenth place with 21 games lost. Real Madrid II will face Villarrobledo (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Rivas will play against Tenerife Naut. (#6) and hope to win that game.
