Regular Season Round 31: Breogan - Palma 88-62

Very expected game when 8th ranked Palma (17-14) was smashed by second ranked Leche Rio Breogan (22-9) in Lugo 88-62 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Leche Rio Breogan. Palma managed to win fourth quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Palma 44-27 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Josep Franch (193-91) who led the winners and scored 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American center Matt Stainbrook (208-92, college: Xavier, agency: Three Eye Sports) accounted for 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Leche Rio Breogan's coach Natxo Lezcano felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Mikel Uriz (182-89) came up with 14 points and Lithuanian center Robertas Grabauskas (208-90, college: Northwood, agency: HMS) added 11 points respectively for Palma in the defeat. Five Leche Rio Breogan and four Palma players scored in double figures. Leche Rio Breogan have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Gipuzkoa GBC. Loser Palma dropped to the ninth place with 14 games lost. Leche Rio Breogan will meet Araberri (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Palma will play against Oviedo CB and hope to secure a win.
