Regular Season Round 11: Tijuana - Obregon 92-88

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (6-4) was defeated on the road by second ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (7-4) 92-88 on Saturday. Tijuana Zonkeys looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Guard Trayvon Lathan (201-84, college: Chowan) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Lathan is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Swingman Glen Rice-Jr (198-91, college: Georgia Tech) produced a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Michael Glover (203-87, college: Iona) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Tijuana Zonkeys and four Halcones de Ciudad Obregon players scored in double figures. Tijuana Zonkeys maintains second place with 7-4 record having just one point less than leader Hermosillo. Loser Halcones de Ciudad Obregon dropped to the third position with four games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will have a break next round. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will play on the road against Caballeros de Culiacan and hope to win that game.
