Regular Season Round 32: SAP Vaucluse - Quimper 83-78

The most important game in the last round took place in Sorgues between second ranked Quimper UJAP (22-10) and fourteenth ranked SAP Vaucluse (14-18) on Saturday night. Quimper UJAP was defeated by SAP Vaucluse in a tough game on the road 78-83. Quimper UJAP was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 26-20 charge of SAP Vaucluse, which allowed them to win the game. They made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. SAP Vaucluse forced 19 Quimper UJAP turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Quimper UJAP helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American point guard Deremy Geiger (180-90, college: Idaho, agency: Blacktop Management) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points. Mali power forward Cheick Soumaoro (204-90) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. SAP Vaucluse's coach Sylvain Lautie used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Dwight Burke (202-86, college: Marquette) replied with 22 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and his fellow American import guard Jahsha Bluntt (198-84, college: Delaware St.) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Quimper UJAP. SAP Vaucluse moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Lorient. Quimper UJAP at the other side keeps the second position with ten games lost. SAP Vaucluse is looking forward to face higher ranked Vendee Challans (#7) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Quimper UJAP will play against Saint Vallier (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
