Very predictable result when seventh ranked Montbrison (13-12) defeated on the road 12th ranked Dunkerque (6-19) 89-82 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Dunkerque won third quarter 31-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Montbrison won last quarter 25-19. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Ukrainian power forward Olga Maznichenko (187-91, agency: LBM Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Cameroonian Amina Njonkou (185-88, college: Arizona) chipped in 19 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side Latvian center Aija Brumermane (192-86) responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Aline Dumont (169-95) scored 19 points and 5 assists. Four Dunkerque players scored in double figures. Montbrison have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 13-12 record, which they share with Toulouse. Dunkerque lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 19 games lost. Montbrison will face higher ranked Arras (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Dunkerque will play against the league's leader Avenir (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
