Regular Season Round 28: FC Barcelona - Zaragoza 91-88

Fifteenth-ranked Zaragoza (8-19) made lots of trouble for sixth ranked FC Barcelona (18-8) on Sunday. FC Barcelona managed to secure only three-point victory 91-88. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Zaragoza won third quarter 27-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. FC Barcelona made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Cypriot-Bulgarian Alexander Vezenkov (206-95) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and Croatian center Ante Tomic (217-87, agency: XL Basketball Agency) who added 8 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. FC Barcelona's coach Giorgos Bartzokas used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 25 points and the former international point guard Tomas Bellas (185-90) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. FC Barcelona moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Baskonia. Zaragoza lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixteenth position with 19 games lost. FC Barcelona will meet league's leader Valencia Basket on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Zaragoza will play against Joventut (#13) and hope to secure a win.
