Regular Season Round 54: Fukushima - Yamagata 74-84

An interesting game for Yamagata (26-26) which played road game in Fukushima against second-best Fukushima (27-25). Third ranked Yamagata managed to get a 10-point victory 84-74. Yamagata outrebounded Fukushima 42-25 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Point guard Yuichi Ishikawa (173-87) had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and American swingman Seth Tarver (196-88, college: Oregon St.) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Yamagata's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American center Nigel Spikes (208-89, college: Marshall) with 13 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Cedric Bozeman (198-83, college: UCLA) scored 12 points and 7 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Yamagata maintains third position with 26-26 record having eleven points less than leader Shimane SM, which they share with Ehime OV. Fukushima at the other side keeps the second place with 25 games lost. Yamagata will play against Iwate Big Bulls (#6) at home in the next round. Fukushima will play against Aomori Watts (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
