Regular Season Round 28: Scafati - Roma Virtus 109-98

There was an upset when higher ranked Roma Virtus (16-12) were defeated on the road by fifteenth ranked Scafati (9-19) 109-98 on Sunday. Scafati made 26-of-29 free shots (89.7 percent) during the game, while Roma Virtus only scored six points from the stripe. Scafati looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Roma Virtus were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Maltese-American Darryl Jackson (190-85, college: Warner Pacific, agency: Diamond Sports) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!) and 5 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and the former international power forward Tommaso Fantoni (204-85, agency: Players Group) who added 29 points and 5 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side American forward John Brown (203-92, college: High Point) responded with 31 points (on 15-of-18 shooting from the field) and naturalized American point guard Anthony Raffa (185-89, college: Co.Carolina) scored 22 points and 7 assists. Five Scafati and four Roma Virtus players scored in double figures. Scafati moved-up to fourteenth place in A2. Loser Roma Virtus dropped to the fifth position with 12 games lost. Scafati will face Viola RC (#15) in Reggio Calabria in the next round. Roma Virtus will play at home against FCM Ferentino (#13) and hope to win that game.
