Regular Season Round 27: Martorell - Mataro 92-71

Date: April 9, 2017
Very expected game when 13th ranked Mataro (9-15) was rolled over on the road by first ranked Martorell (18-6) 92-71 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 51-27 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Martorell forced 24 Mataro turnovers. The best player for the winners was Australian Mabior Deng who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Cristian Oliva (185-82) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. Four Martorell players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Dominican power forward Jose Cabrera (206-84) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and guard Santiago Serrataco (187-90) added 21 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Martorell have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group C-A with 18-6 record. Newly promoted Mataro keeps the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. Martorell will face Menorca (#3) in Mahon in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Mataro will play on the road against Arenys (#5) in Arenys del Mar and hope to win that game.
