Second Stage Round 6: Kashan - Petrochimi 68-92

Date: April 10, 2017
An interesting game for Petrochimi (4-1) which played road game in Kashan against 3rd ranked Kashan (2-3). First ranked Petrochimi had an easy win 92-68. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-68. Petrochimi outrebounded Kashan 37-24 including a 31-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Petrochimi especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. Australian power forward Daniel Johnson (210-88, college: Pepperdine) notched 21 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and American swingman James White (201-82, college: Cincinnati, agency: Three Eye Sports) supported him with 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Petrochimi players scored in double figures. Even 15 points by forward Mohammadreza Rezaei (199-96) did not help to save the game for Kashan. The former international power forward Hossein Rahmati (203-93) added 15 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Petrochimi have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position in Group 1 with 4-1 record. Newly promoted Kashan dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. Petrochimi will meet league's second-placed Azad in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kashan will have a break next round.
