Second Stage Round 6: Army - Naft Abadan 57-64

An interesting game for Naft Abadan (4-1) which played road game in Tehran against 4th ranked Army (1-3). First ranked Naft Abadan managed to get a 7-point victory 64-57. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-7. But Army won second period 19-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Naft Abadan dominated on the defensive end, holding Army to just 7 points in first quarter. 24 personal fouls committed by Army helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Sajjad Mashayekhi (180-94) who scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. The former international center Meisam Mirzaei (210-92) chipped in 9 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Arsalan Kazemi (200-90, college: Oregon) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and 17 rebounds and the former international Vahid Dalirzahan (199-95) added 12 points respectively. Army's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Naft Abadan have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group 2 with 4-1 record. Army at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
