Regular Season Round 26: Kutaisi - Batumi 81-79

Seventh-ranked Batumi (9-17) made lots of trouble for second ranked Kutaisi (18-7). Kutaisi managed to secure only two-point victory 81-79. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 30-18. But Batumi won second period 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. International point guard Giorgi Tsintsadze (192-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Levan Tsekvava (190-89) contributed with 11 points and 4 assists for the winners. International Kakhaber Jintcharadze (195-93) replied with 29 points and 5 rebounds and international Besik Lezhava (192-86, agency: Octagon Europe) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Batumi. Four Batumi players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains second position with 18-7 record having six points less than leader Dinamo Tbilisi. Batumi at the other side keeps the seventh place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Mgzavrebi. Kutaisi will play against bottom-ranked Mgzavrebi (#8) in Tbilisi in the next round where they are favorite. Batumi will play at home against Sokhumi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
