Rather expected game when 9th ranked Viterbo (6-18) was smashed by sixth ranked Civitanova (16-8) in Civitanova Marche 63-44 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Civitanova. Viterbo was better in third quarter 12-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Viterbo to just 6 points in first quarter. Civitanova held Viterbo to an opponent 21.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 38.3 percent accuracy of the winners and made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Civitanova outrebounded Viterbo 46-27 including a 32-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Serbian power forward Kristina Ostojic (190-91) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds. Point guard Margherita Mataloni (172-95) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Giulia Ciavarella (181-97) replied with 14 points and 5 rebounds and guard Paola Raiola (160-99) added 6 points and 4 steals in the effort for Viterbo. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Civitanova moved-up to fifth place in A2. Loser Viterbo dropped to the eleventh position with 18 games lost.
