CIBACOPA top team - Rayos de Hermosillo (11-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat fifth ranked Garra Canera de Navolato (6-6) 102-86. Rayos de Hermosillo players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American players dominated the game. Guard Michael Perez (190-91, college: Nevada) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and forward Emmanuel Little (196-85, college: N.Dakota) chipped in 22 points and 11 rebounds. Little is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Rayos de Hermosillo players scored in double figures. Rayos de Hermosillo's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side swingman Dwayne Mitchell (196-82, college: La-Lafayette) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Tamir Jackson (190-90, college: Rice) scored 24 points. Rayos de Hermosillo have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-1 record. Garra Canera de Navolato at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against Lobos UAD Mazatlan (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Garra Canera de Navolato will play against Tijuana Zonkeys and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
