Very important is a road loss of second ranked Empoli (21-5) against fifth ranked Milano (18-8) on Wednesday night. Visiting Empoli was crushed by Milano in Milano 75-54. The game was mostly controlled by Milano. Empoli managed to win fourth quarter 16-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Milano forced 21 Empoli turnovers and outrebounded them 45-29 including 16 on the offensive glass. Latvian power forward Liga Vente (191-91, college: Eckerd) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Giulia Maffenini (175-92, agency: Two Points) supported her with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Four Milano players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds by Lithuanian forward Gabriele Narviciute (190-90) did not help to save the game for Empoli. Guard Nadia Calamai (172-86) added 6 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Milano maintains fifth position in A2 with 18-8 record. Loser Empoli keeps the second place with five games lost.
