Regular Season Round 27: Ironi Nahariya - Maccabi Rishon 70-71

A very close game took place in Nahariya between Maccabi Rishon and Ironi Nahariya. Ninth ranked Maccabi Rishon (13-14) got a very close victory on the road over 7th ranked Ironi Nahariya (13-14). Maccabi Rishon managed to escape with a 1-point win 71-70 in the game for the seventh place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ironi Nahariya. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-14. But Ironi Nahariya won second period 16-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Cameron Long (193-88, college: George Mason, agency: Inception Sports) accounted for 7 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Naturalized Swedish power forward Jonathan Skjoldebrand (204-83) came up with 18 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Derwin Kitchen (194-86, college: Florida St.) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Ironi Nahariya in the defeat. Four Ironi Nahariya players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Defending champion moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Hapoel T-A and Ironi Nahariya. Maccabi Rishon will meet Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#7) on the road in the next round. Ironi Nahariya will play against Galil Gilboa in Rosh Pina and hope to secure a win.
