Second Stage Round 7: Chemidor - Gorgan 81-71
Date: April 13, 2017
Rather expected game in Tehran where 5th ranked Shahrdari Gorgan (1-4) was defeated by third ranked Chemidor (3-3) 81-71. It looked good early as Shahrdari Gorgan took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Chemidor had a 23-16 second period charge getting the lead and Shahrdari Gorgan was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-81. Chemidor forced 22 Shahrdari Gorgan turnovers and had a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Daequan Cook (195-87, college: Ohio St.) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. The former international forward Amir Sedighi (203-93) accounted for 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four Chemidor players scored in double figures. The former international center Mohammad Shahsavand (210-77) came up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds and center Mahdi Moradinasab (202-92) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Shahrdari Gorgan in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Chemidor maintains third place in Group 1 with 3-3 record having just two points less than leader Petrochimi. Shahrdari Gorgan at the other side keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
