Regular Season Round 28: Antibes - Chalons-Reims 82-69

Date: April 14, 2017
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 15th ranked Chalons-Reims (9-19) was defeated on the road by sixteenth ranked Olympique Antibes (9-19) 82-69. The game was mostly controlled by Olympique Antibes. Chalons-Reims was better in second period 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Chalons-Reims 49-30 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. 29 personal fouls committed by Chalons-Reims helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by American point guard Jerel Blassingame (175-81, college: UNLV) who scored that evening 19 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and American-Nigerian center Chris Otule (211-90, college: Marquette) supported him with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Even 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by naturalized Ivorian point guard Mouloukou-Souleyman Diabate (181-87) did not help to save the game for Chalons-Reims. American swingman Alex Young (198-89, college: IUPUI, agency: Two Points) added 17 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Four Chalons-Reims players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Olympique Antibes moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with defeated Chalons-Reims. Chalons-Reims lost fourth consecutive game. Olympique Antibes' next round opponent will be higher ranked JSF Nanterre (#3) on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
