Regular Season Round 30: Liege - Aalstar 83-86

Date: April 14, 2017
Tenth-ranked Liege Basket (6-25) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked Okapi Aalstar (16-15). The visitors from Aalstar managed to secure only three-point victory 86-83. However their fans expected much easier game. American Bill Amis (206-87, college: Hawaii, agency: Pensack Sports) notched 15 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international swingman Olivier Troisfontaines (196-89, agency: LBM Management) supported him with 19 points and 4 assists. Troisfontaines is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Okapi Aalstar's coach Steve Ibens used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) by American power forward John Fields (205-88, college: Tennessee) did not help to save the game for Liege Basket. His fellow American import point guard Vincent Simpson (185-88, college: Hampton, agency: Promotex) added 14 points and 5 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Okapi Aalstar maintains fifth position with 16-15 record. Liege Basket lost fourteenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 25 lost games. Okapi Aalstar's next round opponent will be Spirou Charleroi (#7) at home. Liege Basket will play against the league's second-placed Antwerp Giants and hope to win that game.
