Regular Season Round 54: Toyota Alvark - Chiba Jets 81-87

An interesting game for Chiba Jets (36-16) which played road game in Tokyo against second-best Toyota Alvark (38-14). Third ranked Chiba Jets managed to get a 6-point victory 87-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Toyota Alvark. American players dominated the game. Tyler Stone (203-91, college: SE Missouri St., agency: Diamond Sports) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and center Hilton Armstrong (210-84, college: Connecticut) supported him with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Four Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. Chiba Jets' coach Atsushi Ono used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists by point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) did not help to save the game for Toyota Alvark. Forward Jeff Ayres (206-87, college: Arizona St.) added 23 points and 10 rebounds. Chiba Jets maintains third position with 36-16 record having nine points less than leader Tochigi Brex. Loser Toyota Alvark keeps the second place with 14 games lost. Chiba Jets will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toyota Alvark will play again against Chiba Jets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
