Regular Season Round 28: ASVEL - Dijon 74-73

Twelfth-ranked JDA Dijon (10-18) made lots of trouble for ninth ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (14-14) on Saturday. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket managed to secure only one-point victory 74-73. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-73. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 4 assists and American center Darryl Watkins (211-84, college: Syracuse, agency: Inception Sports) who added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket's coach J.D. Jackson allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American point guard David Holston (168-86, college: Chicago St.) responded with 30 points, 9 assists and 4 steals and his fellow American import power forward Brandon Peterson (204-90, college: Arkansas St., agency: Inception Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Defending champion moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Limoges and Le Portel. JDA Dijon lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 18 games lost. They share it with Cholet and Hyeres-Toulon. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will meet bottom-ranked Sluc Nancy (#18) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. JDA Dijon will play against the league's second-placed Chalon/Saor (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
