Regular Season Round 54: Niigata Albirex - Hitachi SR 57-80

An interesting game for Hitachi Sunrockers (27-25) which played road game in Niigata against one of their biggest challengers Niigata Albirex (23-29). Third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers had an easy win 80-57. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Niigata Albirex. The best player for the winners was naturalized American guard Aki Chambers (190-90, college: Cal Merced) who scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. American power forward RT Guinn (208-81, college: Baylor) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas, agency: Babcock Sports) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hitachi Sunrockers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 27-25 record having eighteen points less than leader Tochigi Brex. Niigata Albirex at the other side keeps the fourth place with 29 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will have a break next round. Niigata Albirex will play again at home against Hitachi Sunrockers (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
