Second Stage Round 10: AB Contern - Musel Pikes 67-69

The most exciting game of round 10 in the Total League took place in Contern. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers AB Contern (14-10) to second ranked Musel Pikes (17-7) 69-67 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of AB Contern. They outrebounded AB Contern 49-32 including a 24-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Akilah Bethel (183-93, college: LSU) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import Shalonda Winton (180-91, college: Cleveland St.) chipped in 21 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Musel Pikes' coach Jacques Sitz used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side German center Nadine Grieb (184-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 15 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international guard Lou Mathieu (168-94) scored 20 points. Musel Pikes maintains second position with 17-7 record having five points less than leader T71 Dudelange. AB Contern at the other side dropped to the third place with ten games lost. They share the position with Basket Esch.
