Regular Season Round 33: Vitre - Caen 97-102

NM1 top team - Caen (26-7) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat sixteenth ranked Vitre (13-20) 102-97. The guests trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 32-20 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Vitre outrebounded Caen 38-21 including a 14-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. Caen looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Vitre helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Lithuanian forward Justas Sinica (203-85) stepped up and scored 26 points and 5 assists for the winners and guard Thomas Cornely (190-91) chipped in 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was Desmond Quincy-Jones (201-85, college: Pace) with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds and guard Antoine Belkessa (186-88) scored 11 points and 5 assists. Five Caen and four Vitre players scored in double figures. Vitre's coach Zoran Durdevic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Caen have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 26-7 record. Vitre at the other side dropped to the fifteenth position with 20 games lost. They share it with Angers BC. Caen are looking forward to face Angers BC (#15) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Vitre will play against UB Chartres and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
