Regular Season Round 55: Ryukyu GK - SeaHorses 87-90

Date: April 16, 2017
Third-ranked Ryukyu GK (25-28) gave a tough game to first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (43-10) in Okinawa. The visitors from Kariya managed to secure only three-point victory 90-87. However their fans expected easier game. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 17 rebounds. The former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) accounted for 14 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: N.Carolina) came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds and forward Naoki Tashiro (188-93) added 12 points respectively for Ryukyu GK in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ryukyu GK's coach Tsutomu Isa rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Aishin Sea Horses have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. They maintain first place with 43-10 record. Ryukyu GK lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with 28 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will play against Shiga L-Stars (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ryukyu GK will play against the league's second-placed Osaka Evessa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
