Regular Season Round 29: Unicaja - Andorra 93-69
Date: April 16, 2017
The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked Andorra's (14-13) road loss to seventh ranked Unicaja Malaga (17-9) 69-93 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-69. Unicaja Malaga outrebounded Andorra 33-22 including 23 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American point guard Kyle Fogg (190-90, college: Arizona) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). The former international forward Carlos Suarez (203-86, agency: Court Side) contributed with 7 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-89) answered with 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Swedish-American guard Chris Czerapowicz (201-91, college: Davidson) added 13 points in the effort for Andorra. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Unicaja Malaga maintains seventh place with 17-9 record. Loser Andorra keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Unicaja Malaga will face higher ranked FC Barcelona (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Andorra will play against Baloncesto Fuenlabrada and hope to win that game.
