Regular Season Round 31: Barons Riga - Valmiera 58-88

The game between Top Four teams took place in Riga. 4th placed host Barons Riga (16-15) was smashed by second ranked Valmiera (21-11) 88-58. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Barons Riga. It looked good early as Barons Riga took a 12-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Valmiera took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 30 points. American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall) accounted for 13 points and 8 assists for the winning side. Pitts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Center Davis Rozitis (215-90, college: Hawaii) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and Lithuanian forward Denis Krestinin (202-94, agency: BeoBasket) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Barons Riga in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains second place with 21-11 record having six points less than leader Ventspils. Barons Riga at the other side keeps the fourth position with 15 games lost.
