Regular Season Round 29: Valencia - FC Barcelona 76-59

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Valencia Basket (20-7) beat at home 5th ranked FC Barcelona (18-9) 76-59 on Sunday. The game without a history. Valencia Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Valencia Basket outrebounded FC Barcelona 38-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. Power forward Pierre Oriola (206-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American-Georgian Will Thomas (203-86, agency: Two Points) contributed with 10 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Croatian center Ante Tomic (217-87, agency: XL Basketball Agency) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and American-Montenegrin point guard Tyrese Rice (185-87, college: Boston Coll.) added 13 points in the effort for FC Barcelona. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia Basket keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Real Madrid. Loser FC Barcelona keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. Valencia Basket will face Sevilla (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. FC Barcelona will play against Unicaja Malaga (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
