Regular Season Round 55: Toyota Alvark - Chiba Jets 78-84

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Tokyo where their biggest opponent Toyota Alvark (38-15) was defeated by third ranked Chiba Jets (37-16) 84-78 on Sunday. Chiba Jets made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Chiba Jets made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. His fellow American import center Hilton Armstrong (210-84, college: Connecticut) helped adding 14 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) responded with 28 points and 6 assists and the former international forward Daiki Tanaka (191-91) scored 17 points. Chiba Jets maintains third place with 37-16 record having seven points less than leader Tochigi Brex. Loser Toyota Alvark keeps the second position with 15 games lost. Chiba Jets will face Sendai 89ers (#6) at home in the next round. Toyota Alvark will play against Hokkaido L. (#4) in Saporro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
