Regular Season Round 29: Alcazar - Zornotza 82-87

Rather expected game when 10th ranked Alcazar (14-15) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Zornotza (16-13) 87-82 on Sunday. Alcazar was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was point guard Iker Salazar (192-93) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Serbian power forward Vasilije Vucetic (209-96) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI) produced 25 points and 4 assists and the other American import forward Tyrone Nared (203-88, college: Oregon) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Zornotza and five Alcazar players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Zornotza moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Valladolid. Newly promoted Alcazar keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. Zornotza will face bottom-ranked Gandia (#16) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Alcazar will play against the league's leader Sammic ISB (#1) in Azpeitia and hope to win that game.
