Regular Season Round 55: Niigata Albirex - Hitachi SR 73-85

The game between Top Four teams took place in Niigata. 4th placed host Niigata Albirex (23-30) lost to third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (28-25) 85-73. Hitachi Sunrockers had a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for international forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) helped adding 19 points and 5 rebounds. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach BT Toews used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas, agency: Babcock Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Hitachi Sunrockers. They maintain third place with 28-25 record having sixteen points less than leader Tochigi Brex. Loser Niigata Albirex keeps the fourth position with 30 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face league's leader Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Niigata Albirex will play on the road against Yokohama BC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
