LigaA top team - San Martin Corrientes (35-13) added another victory to their record on Monday. This time they beat sixth ranked Obras Basket (24-24) in Buenos Aires 84-77. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 27-22. But Obras Basket won second period 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international Federico Aguerre (203-88) stepped up and scored 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and international Leonardo Mainoldi (203-85) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Dennis Horner (205-88, college: N.Carolina St.) with 8 points and 14 rebounds and the former international center Martin Leiva (211-80) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. San Martin Corrientes maintains first place with 35-13 record. Loser Obras Basket dropped to the fifth position with 24 games lost. San Martin Corrientes will face Instituto (#5) in Cordoba in the next round. Obras Basket will play on the road against Weber Bahia in Bahia Blanca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
