Regular Season Round 27: Aiolos Astakou - Irakleio 93-51

Very expected game when 14th ranked Irakleio (7-19) was rolled over on the road by fifth ranked Aiolos Astakou (17-10) 93-51 on Wednesday. Aiolos Astakou dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Irakleio's 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Irakleio's players. The best player for the winners was guard Nikos Katsares (189-83) who scored 15 points and 7 assists. Center Nikos Libaris-Psomas (210-84) chipped in 17 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Aiolos Astakou players scored in double figures. Aiolos Astakou's coach Michael Koutalianos felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Dimitris Lolas (203-86) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and forward Kostas Pallis (200-79) added 7 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively. Aiolos Astakou have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Aiolos Astakou maintains fifth place with 17-10 record. Irakleio at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourteenth position with 19 games lost. Aiolos Astakou will face league's leader Iraklis in Thessaloniki in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Irakleio will play at home against Faros (#4) and hope to win that game.
