Regular Season Round 15: Mazatlan - Hermosillo 101-93

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (12-2) on the court of seventh ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by Lobos UAD Mazatlan 101-93. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Rayos de Hermosillo. Lobos UAD Mazatlan made 19-of-19 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Strangely Rayos de Hermosillo outrebounded Lobos UAD Mazatlan 41-25 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American guard Jeff Ledbetter (190-88, college: Idaho) who led his team to a victory scoring 37 points (!!!), 8 assists and 4 steals. His fellow American import swingman Cliff Tucker (198-89, college: Maryland) helped adding 23 points. The best for the losing side was American forward Emmanuel Little (196-85, college: N.Dakota) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and the former international point guard Steve Monreal (180-86, college: CS Monterey) scored 24 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion (6-8) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Navolato. Rayos de Hermosillo at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Lobos UAD Mazatlan is looking forward to face higher ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against Aguilas Doradas de Durango and is hoping to win this game.
