Regular Season Round 14: Hyundai-TSU - Arena-76 87-85

Important game to mention about took place in Tbilisi. Second ranked Hyundai-TSU (10-4) saved a 2-point victory at home edging one of their biggest challengers Arena-76 (8-6) 87-85 in the fight for the second place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Arena-76. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-16. But Arena-76 won second period 24-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hyundai-TSU forced 19 Arena-76 turnovers. Strangely Arena-76 outrebounded Hyundai-TSU 67-36 including a 28-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. Point guard David Aphkhazava (185-98) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Point guard Sandro Sanadze (188-95) contributed with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Hyundai-TSU players scored in double figures. American power forward Peter Alexis (213-92, college: Philadelphia) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 24 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import guard Rodnerius Lewis (193-93, college: Stillman) added 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Arena-76. Hyundai-TSU maintains second position with 10-4 record behind leader DELTA. Newly promoted Arena-76 keeps the third place with six games lost. Hyundai-TSU will play against Tskaltubo (#5) on the road in the next round. Arena-76 will play against BC Titebi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
