Regular Season Round 28: Maccabi Ashdod - Maccabi K/G 85-70

The game between closely ranked teams ended with eleventh ranked Maccabi Ashdod's (12-16) home victory over bottom-ranked Maccabi K/G (4-24) 85-70. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Ashdod. Maccabi K/G was better in second period 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Ashdod players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a very good performance for the former international Jake Cohen (208-90, college: Davidson) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 9 rebounds. American center Jackie Carmichael (206-90, college: Illinois St.) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Maccabi Ashdod's coach Meir Tapiro used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American swingman Justin Carter (193-87, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) replied with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized American forward Alex Rosenberg (201-91, college: Columbia) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Maccabi K/G. Five Maccabi Ashdod and four Maccabi K/G players scored in double figures. Maccabi Ashdod have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Galil Gilboa. Maccabi K/G lost eighth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 24 lost games. Maccabi Ashdod's next round opponent will be higher ranked Ironi Nahariya (#8) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. Maccabi K/G will play against Maccabi T-A (#3) and hope to win that game.
