Liga Ouro top team - Botafogo F.R. (10-2) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Santos/Macapa (4-8) in Rio de Janeiro 124-68. Botafogo F.R. dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Santos/Macapa's 28. Botafogo F.R. forced 21 Santos/Macapa turnovers and outrebounded them 51-26 including a 34-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Botafogo F.R. looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Santos/Macapa's players. American guard Wesley Russell (193-93, college: Ohio Christian) fired 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Power forward Douglas Correa (202-91) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. Russell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Botafogo F.R. players scored in double figures. Guard Luiz Nepomuceno (193-95) produced 19 points and 4 assists and guard Luis-Fernando Lima (193-93) added 10 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
