Regular Season Round 27: Batumi - Sokhumi 77-83

The game in Batumi was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Sokhumi (11-16) played at the court of 7th ranked Batumi (9-18). Sokhumi managed to secure a 6-point victory 83-77 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Batumi won third quarter 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Dwayne Lathan (190-89, college: Indiana St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import point guard Rob Woodson (180, college: Grand Valley St., agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) accounted for 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Sokhumi's coach Nugzar Cheishvili used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International Kakhaber Jintcharadze (195-93) came up with 18 points and 5 rebounds and international Besik Lezhava (192-86, agency: Octagon Europe) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Batumi in the defeat. Four Sokhumi and five Batumi players scored in double figures. Sokhumi maintains fifth place with 11-16 record. Loser Batumi keeps the seventh position with 18 games lost. They share it with Mgzavrebi. Sokhumi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Mgzavrebi.
